Families

The Whole Family

There is something unique and wonderful about each and every family. Capturing those qualities in the family portraits I take is one of the reasons I love being a family photographer. I enjoy getting to know you and your family and being a part of all the special, fun memories that are created during our photo sessions.

What is the secret to getting gorgeous family portraits like this? It’s simple: be yourselves! I like to keep things relaxed and natural, this way your family can be comfortable and at ease. There are two options for your family: heading to our gorgeous studio, or going on location. Instead of the formal atmosphere of a studio, we can venture outdoors into the stunningly sunlit countryside or vibrant metropolitan vistas.

In outdoor photography, creativity is limitless. And that is what family photos are all about, isn’t it? Making fun memories, creating something beautiful, taking a moment to express what you love about your family—it’s all part of the experience.

What to Wear

A lot of our clients ask us, “What should we wear to our session?” Here are just a few suggestions to help you come up with the perfect outfits.

Clothing

We love RED around here! Red is a great color to add to your outfits and it means love. It will give your pictures a little extra pop, but you don’t need a lot.

Red-Family-Clothes-Blog

This is a great example of casual dressy. We love when clients add a little pop of color to add to their outfit. It doesn’t have to be over the top. Just a little here and there!

Purple-Family-Clothes-Blog

Love this combination with the bright colors. It is an even balance of bright, patterns and neutrals. Layering is always wonderful in photos.

Brown-Family-Clothes-Blog

The unifying theme here is the yellow, but notice not everyone has to have yellow on. The yellow is very subtle and is surrounded by more quiet shades of navy, grey and khaki. Perfect blend!

Yellow-Family-Clothes-Blog

We are all about casual, but still totally cute! Sometimes people are more comfortable in their casual clothes as opposed to the dressy clothes, which is totally fine. There are still some really fun pieces in this group to give the outfits a little pop. This is a great example of dressing your casual outfit up with a necklace or headband.

Jewelry

We love fun jewelry! Great jewelry makes any outfit a little more special. It can make a casual outfit a little more dressy. Here are a few examples of jewelry we love!

Shoes

Shoes really can make an outfit. Go a little outside of your comfort zone when picking shoes. Forget your everyday shoes and go with a fun pair of shoes, but make sure they aren’t going to kill your feet! A new pair of shoes can make you feel like a million bucks.
